Our Story
We believe in the power of learning through play.
We believe that the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3® promotes STEAM learning.
That’s why we created “Make Your Robot Move”.
Our journey began in 2011 with a classroom visit when I was asked to coach and mentor 3 teams of Grade 7 and 8 students who wanted to compete in a FIRST LEGO League® tournament.
We searched for resource material that would provide a better understanding of the EV3 hardware and software. We wanted guidance on how to take a robot of our own design and program it to move by itself or with sensors. We wanted to create programs for controlled acceleration and deceleration. We also wanted our robot to be able to turn at high speeds – we didn’t want to be limited by point turns. Finally, we wanted to learn techniques to improve the performance of our programs. Unfortunately, nothing like this existed so we decided to create it.
Our journey included a few twists, turns, and setbacks. However, we remained committed to creating the best reference book for the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3.
Finally, in November 2015, we started selling copies of our eBook. It was half complete and included a few sample programs and My Blocks. While preparing the second edition, we gathered customer feedback and took our complete volume and divided it into four separate volumes – to give customers a choice: one big reference manual or four smaller volumes.
In January, 2017, the second edition of Make Your Robot Move and four individual volumes became available in both iBook and pdf format.
With the trust of our early customers, we have been able to grow. We now have valued customers in 30 countries.
